Almotamar.net - Secretary General of Arab Women General Federation , the Chairwoman of Yemen Women Union (YWU) Ramziya Abbas al-Eryany denounced what is rumoured on prisons of news on low services and inhuman treatment of prisoners and exploiting them, especially women prisoners and their being exposed to bad treatment and suppression , harassment and using them for bad sorts of work.

Attending a workshop in Sana’a on Monday, al-Eryany emphasized support for issues of the prisoner woman and juveniles in the media outlets. She said visits of the YWU to woman prisons in the Yemeni provinces found out the existence of special care rendered to the prisoners and the prisons administrations providing of rehabilitation, training and reform, indicating to the existence of training, rehabilitation, teaching computer, sewing and recitation of the Kuran.

Mrs al-Eryany also pointed out that 29 women prisoners obtaining of diploma in computer, some of them are continuing their studies and some of them have joined university education.

She expressed the wonder of media attack and arousing unrealistic tales and events happening in prisons in prisons and that it offends the prisoners and those working in prisons. She called on media men to seek accuracy in the truth in what is said on prisons and women prisoners.

Mrs al-Eryany demanded, in the workshop, organized by the YWU aimed at increasing the dealing with issues of the prisoner women and juveniles, the media instruments to raise the society awareness about issues of the woman prisoner especially concerning the low view towards them.
