Almotamar.net - ADEN- President Ali Abdullah Saleh directed concerned authorities to review civil service, diplomatic, passports, and punishment laws and other related articles that discriminate against women so that they can enjoy equal rights.
President Saleh promised women participating in the third session for Yemeni Women Union held today in the governorate of Aden that such laws will be reviewed. "I shall ask the ministry of legal affairs to discuss with the legal experts in the central council at the women's sector to review these legislatures and agree on a number of suggestions to amend them," he added.
Saleh criticized some political powers that exploit women in the political affairs without giving them their rights and privileges. "This is not acceptable. Women should not accept to be a commodity at the hand of any political power," he said.

Saleh further urged religious scholars and social figures to raise awareness among people on the importance of making marriage easy, without bartering women for money.
