The ambassador made it clear in a press conference he held Saturday night on board of the ship that organizing the joint drill aims at development of Yemeni Coast Guard troops and enhancement of their capabilities of confronting acts of piracy and combating terror by benefiting from Italian experience in the area of coast guard. He said the visit will witness meetings between the navigation crew of the ship and officials of Coast Guard in Aden gulf sector to discuss horizons of consolidating future cooperation of the two sides.

The ambassador said an Italian company will in the near future install a radar system for the Coast Guard pursuant to an agreement signed between the two countries at a cost amounting to 20 million euros as a loan as part of security cooperation of the two countries.

Regarding ongoing commercial and economic cooperation the Italian ambassador announced that two Italian companies will invest in marble and fish fields in Yemen, pointing out that the Italian embassy in Sana�a contributes to promotion for investment opportunities available in Yemen and encourages Italian companies to invest in addition to calling them to take part in the conference on exploration of investment opportunities in the republic of Yemen scheduled in late April next. He also praised the level of the Yemeni democratic experiment which receives appreciation and interest of Italy.

The Italian military ship arrived at Aden port on Saturday on a friendly visit and as part of bilateral cooperation and its visit t is to last for three days.
