almotamar.net - The Japanese Meteorological Agency (JMA) on Thursday warned authorities in Yemen of effects of sea tide Tsunami following the 7.1 degree, Richter scale earthquake that hit the Indonesian Sumatra Island on Wednesday evening.

The Yemeni National Meteorological Centre expected that the effects of Tsunami would be strong and local in the Indian Ocean. In its press release the centre added that warnings from the JMA represent final information unless there are further explanations from the same source.

Yemeni news agency quoted Khalid al-Salawi, official in charge t the National Centre for Meteorology as saying Yemen deals with this information through sending it to the local media that intern would warn the citizens, he said Yemen does not possess special modern equipment by which it can be sure about happening of those effects on the Yemeni coasts.

He said the Meteorological Centre remains observing the movement of winds on Yemeni coasts and in case changes happened it begins to send warnings to the Coast Guard and concerned authorities to take necessary precautions, adding there were no changes in winds movement up until then.
Indonesian meteorological authorities had said the Indonesian authorities raised warning against a sea tide, Tsunami, after the earthquake that happened in the Indian Ocean off the Indonesian Island Sumatra at an early hour on Wednesday.
