Almotamar.net - In its Tuesday weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ali Mohammed Mujawar referred to the parliament a draft amendment of some articles of the law No. 13 for the year 2001 regarding general elections and referendum in order to complete constitutional procedures necessary for issuing it.

The amendment comes to avoid aspects of shortcoming that appeared in the past period of implementing the law and in enhancement of guarantees for holding free and honest elections as well as benefiting from recommendations of the European Union presented following the latest presidential elections in addition to what was agreed on by political parties in the agreement of principles.

The amendment draft has mainly stipulated issues pertaining to expansion in the field of challenges and approval of the right to challenges against candidates for parliamentary and local elections during the period of nomination in addition to guarantees of impartiality of civil service and public property as well as official media instruments during electoral campaigns.

The amendment also stipulated approval of the right to tendering administration complaints during the electoral process, organizing procedures of presenting complaints in addition to enhancement of the present texts that confirm independence and impartiality of the election supreme commission , organisation of elections security, expansion in organisation of the right of observation of the election process , whether local or external and determination of the rights and commitments of observers.
