Almotamar.net Yemen Observer - The joint Yemeni-Syrian High Committee concluded its meetings in Damascus Sunday by signing a 13-point agreement. The compact covered agreements on economic, commercial, transportation, agricultural, health, information, justice, and youth issues. They were signed by Yemeni Prime Minister Abdul Qader ba Jammal, and his Syrian counterpart, Mohammed Etri. The two prime ministers held a press conference on Sunday night after talks had concluded.
At the press conference, the Syrian prime minister explained that the most significant agreement signed by the two sides was the establishment of a new marine transportation company sponsored by the governments, which he said would help facilitate the flow of goods between Yemen and Syria, and other countries in the future. After the talks, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad held a meeting with Prime Minister ba Jammal during which ba Jammal informed al-Assad of the conclusions reached by the Joint Yemeni-Syrian High Committee.
Al-Assad praised the results and emphasized the need for improvement of the private sectors in the two countries for the further development of economic, commercial, and investment relations between Yemen and Syria. Ba Jammal also delivered to al-Assad a message from President Ali Abdullah Saleh. The letter reportedly addressed the bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries and included Saleh’s comments on recent regional and international developments.
