almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saaleh called for activating the agreement of Arab Joint Defence and the establishment of an Arab Fund for serving goals of development in the Arab homeland.
In his address at the closing session of the Arab Summit the president affirmed that is time for the Arab nation to benefit from the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and uniting Arab efforts exerted in this regard in the manner guaranteeing the establishment of a unified Arab projector for generation of electric power by using the nuclear energy forth benefit of all Arab countries.
President Saleh indicated that this summit is convened at circumstances requiring tackling them with sense of responsibility and said there must be Arab solidarity enhancement and confirmed Yemen’s commitment to decisions of previous Arab summits and the Arab initiative approved at Beirut summit without any amendment or reduction.
[Resident Ssaleh has further proposed the formation of a commission chaired by the king of Saudi Arabia composed of other Arab leaders for healing rift and settle differences among the Arab brethren. he said it is out of duty to consider the ordeal of the Palestinians living in Iraq who nee protection and care from the world community and the Arab group.
He also called for a national reconciliation among the Iraqi parties for building democratic and free Iraq and independent and confirmed the importance of effective Arab presence in Iraq to preserve its Arab identity and to enable its restore its nationalist role in the Arab and international fields.
The president also called for standing by the Somali people and supports its government for the realization of peace and reconstruction of its establishments and to hold an international conference for the support of Somalia.
President Saleh praised the efforts exerted by Sudan for solving the problem of Darfur confirming siding with it in what guarantees its sovereignty and unity and safety of its territories and non-interference in its internal affairs.
In his meeting with the UN secretary general in Riyadh today president Saleh affirmed the significance of the UN role in pushing forward the peace process in the region through following up resolutions of the international legitimacy related to the Arab-Israeli conflict. The president reiterated the confirmation that Israel has to commit to the Arab peace initiative ion the way guaranteeing its withdrawal to the borders of 1957 and the establishment of the Palestinian state and the right of the refugees to return saying it is the way realizing security for Israel and peace for all.
The UN Secretary General praised on his part Yemen’s pursuit in the democratic and reform area and its effective role within the UN and service of peace and stability in the region and the world.
