Almotamar Net - ADEN- The 7th conference of People's General
Congress (PGC) continued on Friday its sessions in Aden city headed by president Ali Abdullah Saleh.
In Friday session, the secretary general of PGC Dr. Abdul-Kareem al-Eryani presented the permanent committee report which focused on
the cultural,economic, political and social activities of the PGC during the last period.The report said that the arrangements for 2004 parliamentary elections were main task of the party as the it succeeded to win the majority seats of the parliament.
The report affirmed the party concern in promoting women sector in the political, economic and cultural life.
Dr. al-Eryani said that the PGC worked for strengthening democracy in the country, considering it a national choice, through popular participation, human rights respect and constant contact with the other political parties. The report also said that the political committee succeeded in restructuring
to be a constructive board focusing on political affairs.
The report pointed out to the political role of the party toward the internaland external issues, especially the rebellion of Badereddin
al-Houthi .The report also said that a number of political studies and researches on local and regional levels were prepared.
On foreign level, the report said that the party held talks and contacts with a lot of Arab political parties to enhance bilateral
relations withthem in addition to its participation in many regional meetings. About guidance, the report affirmed its leadership
care in this regardthrough moderate speeches encouragement depending on open-mindedness principles, brotherhood and the real Islamic teachings.The report said that the party prepared studies to tackle extremist speech.
Regarding economy and public services, the report said that the party worked hard to continue the economic activities to set up
databases onthe economic situations and public services development which have been implemented by the government since 1997 until end of 2003. The report pointed out to the government achievements and the implemented projects in the field of health, education, road, infrastructure, electricity, water and other public service projects.
