Almotamar.net - Planning and International Cooperation Undersecretary, the sector of studies and economic expectations Dr Mohammed al-Hawi affirmed Thursday that inlet of Yemen integration with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will be economic, specifically through the gate of joint investments, along with considering other dimensions, especially the political, historical, cultural and social.
Al-Hawi made it clear that Yemen joining as member of the GCC will help expand volume of the market in the region and to represent common opportunity to benefit from its potentials. He also pointed out the distinguished geographical location of Yemen and what that can play in serving economies of the region in rendering the Yemeni ports as transit stations for transporting Gulf products to African countries. He indicated to providing a safe route for transporting the Gulf oil to the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean directly through building oil pipelines to the southern Yemeni coasts.
In a study titled " Yemeni economic relations with the GCC states, from partnership to integration" the Planning Undersecretary said Yemen has abundance of investment potentials in different areas and that enhances establishment of joint investment projects and strengthening procedures of cooperation and economic integration. Also, the states of the GCC represent trading partner for Yemen absorbing the bigger part of its non-oil exports, specifically agricultural products and fish.
