Oil sector has particularly witnessed enhanced relationship with ONGC, IOC, Reliance International, Tatas, GAIL, BPCL and NTPC upgrading their presence. Indian companies have also entered in the minerals sector in Yemen such as limestone quarrying.
Main items of Indian exports to Yemen include textile, pharmaceuticals, hand tools, engineering goods, chemicals, perfumes and pipes.
Main items of imports by India from Yemen include crude oil, scrap, hides and skins and limestone. There is a flourishing market for Indian motorcycles, motor cars, trucks, auto parts and excavators.
TCIL has been actively involved in a number of telecommunication projects in Yemen since 1979. The Government of Yemen and the people are aware of Indian capabilities and progress in science and technology. They are keen on seeing a greater interaction between the two countries.
Enormous opportunities exist for Indian exporters and investors for enhanced economic link ups in Yemen. To promote awareness of these opportunities amongst the Indian traders and manufacturers, and to enlighten Yemenis further about the areas in which mutually beneficial cooperation can be initiated and increased with the Indian industry and commerce, the exhibition has been planned to enable Indian business community to interact with their Yemeni counterparts. Several business meetings have also been planned along with the exhibition.
