Almotamar.net, Saba - Yemen to allow investment in private TV and radio
SANA'A, July 28 (Saba)- A Yemeni official has said the government would carry out a new series of reforms in the coming three years in
addition to issuing a number of laws and executive bylaws in sectors including information, local authority, judiciary and purchases.
"In the framework of its reforms program, the government would encourage investment in field of information and remove any restrictions against setting up private TV channels and radio stations," Planning and International Cooperation Minister Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi said in an interview with Saba.
Al-Arhabi said that the second stage of the national reforms agenda would include the financial reforms in the country and reforms in
civil service sector.
"The Planning and International Cooperation Ministry is currently working to complete the reforms agenda for 2007-2009 before referring it to the government for discussion and approval", said al-Arhabi.
Al-Arhabi said that Yemen had agreed with the donors that the deadline of completing pledges to Yemen offered at the London donors
conference would be next December, pointing to a number of steps being taken to ease implementing developmental projects to be funded by donors.
Al-Arhabi affirmed that Yemen could make an economic growth in 2007 averaged at 4 percent and that the government had approved measures
that would facilitate investments in the country and create competitive investment environment.
