Sons of the late Sheikh al-Ahmar received at King Faisal Hospital Saturday delegations of from Saudi Arabia kingdom leaderships who came to offer their condolences on the decease of the Yemeni parliament Speaker who died Saturday morning. They offered their condolences to sons of the deceased sheikh al-Ahmar and his relatives and to the people of Yemen and the Arab and Islamic nation.

The Saudi delegation offering condolences was led by Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, the Emit of Riyadh, Dr Saleh Bin Abdullah Bin Hamid, Chairman of Saudi Shoura council, Dr Saleh al-Wahibi, Secretary General of the World Symposium for Islamic Youth and Sheikh Abdullah al-Turky secretary general of Islamic World League.

Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hussein al-Ahmar was born in 1933 in Husn Habour, Dhulmat Hashid area. He received his primary education at the hands of a religious scholar in the same area. While he was still in his early youth sheikh al-Ahmar was given responsibility of managing affairs of the family, supervising the family affairs and its agricultural property.

After the 1948 revolution in Yemen Sheikh al-Ahmar went to the Imam Ahmed in Taiz in an attempt to have his father and brother release from the Imam's prison. He stayed there three years; the first year trying to secure the release of his father, the second as prisoner at the Imam prison instead of his father and the third trying to convince the Imam to set free his elder brother.

At the end of the fifties, after Imam Ahmed Hamidudin has executed in Hajah the father of Sheikh Abdullah and his brother Sheik Hamid, he was arrested in Huddeida and then transferred to Al-Mahabisha prison where he stayed there for three years and was set free after the outbreak of 26 September revolution in 12962.

In the early days of the revolution Sheikh Abdullah was entrusted to head for the north-western areas to hunt down the deposed Imam Mohammed al-Badr and to arrest him.

In 1964 Sheikh Abdullah was appointed minister of interior in three successive governments until 1965. In 1969 Sheikh al-Ahmar was elected chairman of the National council that drafted the permanent constitution of the country and in 1970 he was elected chairman of the Shoura Council.

In 1979 sheikh al-Ahmar was appointed member in the Consultative Council until the establishment of the Yemeni unity in 1990.

In 1990 sheikh al-Ahmar chaired the Higher Preparatory Committee that established the Yemeni Congregation for Reform Organisation and remained chairman of its Higher Committee until his death.

In April 1993 al-Ahmar won the confidence of the electorate at his constituency in the parliamentary elections and in the same year he was elected speaker of he first parliament under the Republic of Yemen. On 18 May 1997 he was re-elected as speaker of the parliament and in 2003 he was elected speaker for the third time.

Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hussein al-Ahmar participated in preservation of the revolution and the republic and in defence of the Yemeni unity.

-The People's Committee for Defending Al-Aqsa and Palestine
-The Parliamentary Committee for Al-Quds and Palestine
-Member of Trustees Council of the World Organisation for Islamic Call
- Deputy Chairman of Trustees of Al-Quds Establishment in Yemen

- Chairman of the People's Committee for Supporting the Kuwaiti people after the Iraqi Invasion.
