Almotamar.net - Yemen received on Sunday an in kind assistance from Saudi Arabia worth 6 million Saudi riyals. The assistance is for the National Centre for Watching and Combating the locust.
Yemen's minister of agriculture and irrigation Dr Mansaour al-Hawshabi said the assistance embodies the ties of cooperation between the two countries and a good step guarantees the operation of monitoring, surveys and full combating of locusts, pointing out there is serious cooperation among the states of the region for confronting the locust and that five surveys have been made with Yemeni-Saudi partnership and then Omani.
On his part the Secretary of Anti-locust Authority in the central region Dr Munir Atras said the Saudi assistance offered to Yemen establishes a permanent partnership in fighting the locust whose effect is not confined to one country but extends to all the countries of the central region.
The delegate of the Saudi ministry of agriculture Saleh al-Qaeet stated at the event of delivering the assistance affirmed that the locust epidemic represents a grave danger requires joining all efforts between governments and international organisations and individuals.
The director of the national centre for watching and combating the locust Abdeh Farie al-Rumaih said the Saudi assistance includes a number of cars and spray tools, some portable and some fitted on cars in addition to ten tons of insecticides for combating the locust.
