Almotamar.net - Yemen's Prime Minister Dr Ali Mohammed Mujawar said Monday his government realises the importance of the role played by the Central Organisation for Control and Auditing (COCA) in protection of the public property, fighting corruption and contribution to development of the financial and administrative performance in special units and enhancement of general accountability system.
In the opening of the annual meeting of the COCA the Premier affirmed the necessity of creating necessary mechanism that achieves practical benefit from outputs of the COCA in tackling with flaws or accountability or auditing in addition to developing the relationship with other monitoring apparatuses, particularly the Supreme National Anti-Corruption Authority (SNACA). He called the attention to the necessity of finding legal formula that guarantees direct coordination between the COCA and higher institutions because that strengthens legal accountability and serves the efforts aimed at combating corruption.
Dr Mujawar pointed out that the year 2007 witnessed a package of legislative and institutional measures taken by the government towards fighting corruption and protection of the public property. There were also efforts aimed at updating laws related to properties and resulted in issuing many laws in this regard. The Prime Minister said his government is presently carrying out a group of projects pertaining to restructuring a number of government establishments within the frame of the project of modernizing civil service.
