Almotamar.net - Secretary General of the General People's Congress (GPC) Abdulqader Bajammal on Monday reviewed with Chairman of the Change Movement Dr Ahmed al-Teebi results of the Arab summit concluded on Sunday in Damascus and the resolutions and recommendations it adopted concerning the Palestinian cause and support for Yemen's initiative.
Bajammal affirmed that the Yemeni initiative launched by President Ali Abdullah Saleh that was adopted by the Arab summit came out of the keenness on unifying the Palestinian rank and coordination of stands between the movements of Fatah and Hamas and for reformation of the Palestine Liberation Organisation to include all political and intellectual factions and trends in the manner serving the Palestinian issue.
Bajammal added that the initiative came in continuation of efforts and agreements held in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. And the GPC Secretary General pointed out that the Arab reconciliation is important for solving issues in general and the Palestinian cause mainly and that is what Yemen is working for.
On his part Dr al-Teebi expressed his appreciation of Yemen and the efforts the Yemeni political leadership, represented by President Ali Abdullah Saleh, is exerting for supporting the Palestinian cause, the latest of which was the clear-cut features of Yemeni initiative that diagnosed the Palestinian reality and presented practical vision to tackle its issues and wished continuation of those efforts.
Al-Teebi briefed the GOC Secretary General on suffering of the 1948 Arabs who represent 20% of citizens in Israel and the racial discrimination practiced on them as well s the absence of the principle of equality in dealing with them.
Bajammal confirmed Yemen's stand regarding the Palestinian issue and its support for the Palestinian reconciliation and overcoming stumbles and unifying capabilities for the struggle for establishment of the independent Palestinian state. Bajammal said Yemen concerning all of its stands supporting the Palestinian issue has proceeded from firm conviction of the importance of unifying the Arab rank in confronting the challenges surrounding the Palestinian issue in addition to the importance of overstepping internal differences among the brothers for cementing the Palestinian stand and the struggle for facing the occupier with all available means.
The meeting was attended by Head of the GPC's Information Office Tareq al-Shamy and the Palestinian ambassador to Yemen Dr Ahmed al-Deek.
