Almotamar.net - The Specialised Penal Court postponed on Saturday considering the case of three defendants accused of telephone communications with Iran to next Wednesday so that the attorney general would continue presentation confessions of the defendants.

In the sitting chaired by Judge Muhsin Alwan the lawyer defending the defendants Shatha Mohammed Nasser asked that the sittings be public and attended by journalists. The Judge replied that the court has previously decided the decision of secrecy of the sessions in response to request of the defendants and that is in preservation of their status and secrets related to security of the state. He said if there is insistence on making the sittings open there must be going to the appeals so that to appeal the decision.

The prosecution presented confessions of the first defendant Abdulkarim Ali Abdulkarim containing his confession in statements of gather evidence that he contacted with employees at the Iranian embassy and provided them with reports pertaining to movements of Americans in Yemen, military information, and reports on parliamentary elections of 2003 in addition to areas of removing landmines by Americans as well as reports on the security situation and economic in Aden and southern action. The reports also were on the Yemeni Coast Guard.

The defendant also admitted receiving sums of money in dollars from staffers in the Iranian embassy and other big sums of money from someone called Mohammed Jawad Neiwi via the National bank branch of Aden for supporting Aden Society (Al-Khawja).
