almotamar.net - The General Secretariat of the General People’s Congress GPC has, in its meeting Wednesday presided over by the 1st Deputy President, the Secretary General of the GPC Abid Rabu Mansour Hadi, welcomed statements of the American Department of State as well as the statements issued by the European Union on holding the 4th parliamentary elections in Yemen on their time and confirmed the GPC sticking to and keenness on the political dialogue with al political forces and holding the parliamentary elections in their date on the 27 of April 2009.
The GPC’s General Secretariat deemed those statements as coming in support of enhancing the democratic march and respect of the will of the people of Yemen who adopted democracy and election as their way for the peaceful transfer of power.
The GPC General Secretariat also confirmed keenness of the party on participation of all political forces in the electoral process and that all should work for going to free, honest and transparent elections far from political outbidding and wrangles and so that the people would be the judge and the reference.
The General Secretariat also reviewed the steps and measures taken during the process of registration, revising and amending voter records and the phase of deletion and addition. It has called on all of the political forces and civil society organizations in addition to voters to interact seriously with the remaining stage of the process of correcting records represented by judicial challenges so that to reach an electoral record free from flaws. It said that is in commitment of the GPC to the choice it has pursued and worked for its establishment during the past years under the care of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, the President of the GPC.
