almotamar.net - Reliable sources on Sunday told the almotamar.net denied as groundless the allegations rumoured by Joint Meeting Parities JMP regarding the intention of the European Union EU team to not participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections observation, scheduled in Yemen next April in case the JMP announced boycotting them or that the team has proposed postponement of the elections.
The sources confirmed that the delegation of the European Commission EC continues holding meetings and consultations with parties of the political process including the General People’s Congress GPC, parties of the JMP and the rest of political parties in Yemen.
The sources also clarified that the EC tam confirmed, in a meeting with leaderships of political parties, the importance of holding the elections in their date as they are considered the essence of the democratic process.
The European team confirmations came in coincidence with similar emphasis by organisations related to supporting the democracy in Yemen, particularly the National Democratic Institute NDI and IFES Orgnisation.
Meanwhile President Ali Abdullah Saleh reiterated affirmation of holding the parliamentary election in its fixed date and that any postponement would damage the democracy in Yemen.
