Almotamar.net - SANAA- A source close to Speaker of Yemen parliament Sheikh Abdullah Bi Hussein Al-Ahmar emphasized that the Sheikh is closely following up the going on political and electoral developments and confirms his stance of sticking to the GPC presidential candidate, President Ali Abdullah Saleh. Sheikh Al-Ahmar is now in Saudi Arabia spending a period of convalescence after the successful latest surgical operation done for him in Riyadh last month.

The source said by that stance, Al-Ahmar has implicitly decided his stand towards the Islah candidate as well as the candidate of the rest of the parties of the JMP, Faisal Bin Shamlan, although he has not commented expressly on the JMP candidate positively or negatively.
On this sand regarding his son Hamid, who takes an attitude opposite of his father’s, the source said due to the Sheikh’s experience and wisdom he considers stances of some of his sons, including Hamid, as childish behaviors and does not agree with them.
The source also said the stand of Sheikh Al-Ahmar, Chairman of the Higher Body of Islah and the stand of Shekh Abdulmajid Al-Zindani, Head of Islah Shoura Council, implicitly supporting president Saleh, will preponderate the attitudes of the Islah’s bases and supporters. He hinted that difference between the Islah’s historical and spiritual leaderships, like Sheikhs Al-Ahmar and Al-Zindani and the liberal current such as the team of Al-Yadoumy, Qahtan and Al-A’anisy, is that the latter is seeking for a role in the American project of the New Middle East and wagers on the external support to attain power, whereas Sheikhs Al-Ahmar and Al-Zindani and with them a large sector inside the Islah party consider the differences with president Ali Abdullah Saleh and the ruling regime as not rising to the level of denying the president’s stands and the limitless support the president had given to the Islamic current, now represented by the Islah through a strategic alliance since he came to power in 1978. The Islah and the Islamists had begun a golden era since the president came to power and that enabled them to confront the communist force and to build a large base through religious scientific institutes and he is still supportive and protector of leaders of the Islamic current against the international classification of them as terrorists, demanding to be handed over to arrest and send them to court.
