almotamar.net - President Ali Abdullah Saleh has received in Sana’a Tuesday the Director of the visiting US Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Robert Mueller.
President Saleh and Mueller discussed aspects of relations and areas of cooperation of the two countries, among them security cooperation and antiterrorism, in addition to the discussion of the subject of Yemeni prisoners in Guantanamo Bay.
Mr Mueller praised the efforts being exerted by Yemen in fighting terror, congratulating the successes realised by Yemeni security authorities in their pre-emptive strikes against al-Qaeda organization and pointed out that terror is a danger threatening all.
Mueller affirmed preparedness of the United States of America for expanding horizons of cooperation with Yemen and its standing by Yemen in all that would safeguard its security, stability and safety.
For his part the resident praised the Yemeni-US relations and the existing cooperation between the two countries, including the cooperation in security and combating terror area.
The President has re-affirmed Yemen’s stand of demanding of the hand over of Yemeni detainees in Guantanamo prison to Yemen so that to rehabilitate them or prosecuting them in the light of files pertaining to the case of each of them.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Premier for Security and Defence Affairs Rashad al-Alimi, Director of the Presidency Office, the Chairman of National Security Authority Ali Mohammed al-Ansi, Minister of Justice Ghazi al- Aghbari, General Prosecutor Abdullah al-Ulfi, Deputy Chairman of the National Security Authority General Ali Mansour Rasheed, Presidency Secretary General Abdullah Hussein al-Bashiri and the US Ambassador to Yemen Stephen Seche.
President Saleh has also received in Sana’a today the visiting Iraqi Ex-Prime Minister, the Head of the Iraqi Coalition in the parliamentary elections in Iraq Dr Iyad Alawi
Allawi briefed Saleh on the latest developments in Iraq as well as the results of the Iraqi Parliamentary elections and negotiations relating to the formation of a new government within the reconciliation framework among the Iraqi parties participated in elections.
The two sides also talked about the Yemeni-Iraqi brotherly relations and the Arab and regional developments that concern Arab nation.
The President reaffirmed Yemen's position in standing beside Iraq to ensure its security and stability as well as in preventing any interference in its internal affairs by any regional and international sides.
