Almotamar.net - A number of woman leaders and political activists in the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) have emphasised the importance of holding the parliamentary elections on time and considered them a significant stage in confirming support and backing up the woman and winning a number of seats at the upcoming parliament.
In statements to be published in Al-Mithaq weekly newspaper on Monday, they said the national interest and the situations being experienced by the country necessitate holding the elections in their fixed date.
Intesar al-Hamadi from he Islah party says, “ We are against the postponement and want elections in which all participate , according to their legal date, “ Amira Ahmed Saeed, from People’s Forces Union says the situations in the country dictate holding the elections on time without postponement and continuing the dialogue for finding the suitable solutions for those situations.
Angela Shamsan from the Baath party says there is no use of postponement and there are no reasons for delaying the date of elections, hoping that the women would realize broader presence in the upcoming parliament.
Maha Yassin, from the Yemen Socialist Party affirmed the importance of holding the elections on time with participation of all, while Iftikhar Uthmann from the Nasserite Unionist Organisation sees that holding the elections on time, with agreement of all parties, fives hope in continuation of the national dialogue.
For her part , Ashwaq al-Maakhathi , from Al-Haq Party , “ If the national interest dictates holding the elections on time , all the sincere do not want but the good for this homeland” The woman leaders demanded all political parties and organisations for supporting the woman candidates away from any partisan differentiation so that to get larger of seats at the upcoming parliament to serve the society and to upgrade the reality of the woman in the country . They wished that the April 2011 elections to be an important, advanced and encouraging step to the woman, unlike the previous elections that precluded the woman from reaching the parliament.
