Almotamar.net - A recent report by the Yemeni ministry of industry and trade revealed that the government is planning to establish 9 industrial zones over two stages. The first stage is the implementation of actual works for building projects of industrial zones in provinces of Aden, Hodeida and Hadramout. The second stage is implementation of projects of specialised and qualitative industrial zones in seven provinces.
The report , obtained by Almotamar.net, made it clear that studies have been prepared on the total and partial economic feasibility , internal divisions , studies and designs of the infrastructures, networks of electricity, waters, sewage and internal designs, studies on the environmental impact, building internal roads and promotion for the three industrial zones in Aden, Hodeida and Hadramout.
The report mentions that the land has been allocated and economic studies have been made for projects of six specialised and qualitative industrial zones in Lahj, Abyan, Hardh in Hodeida, exporting industrial zone in Belhaf of Shabwa, extractive industrial zone in Mareb-Al-Jawf-Shabwa and a services industrial zone in the capital. The official report mentioned that the industrial zones are the more important factors for speeding up the industrial development as they provide the land and necessary services for investment and industrial activity and thus they reduce costs, efforts and time.
The report also said that for this importance and others, the Yemeni government has launched the project of the industrial zones by approving and issuing the presidential decree 79 for the year 2005 concerning building and organizing the industrial zones and managing and supervising them. the importance of the industrial zones lies in providing attractive opportunities for investment through facilitating for investors the obtaining of land and infrastructures with encouraging prices and the achievement of balanced geographical spread of industry and industrial investments , providing new job opportunities and speeding up the movement of industrial development and industrial growth.
