Almotamar.net & Saba - President Ali Abdullah Saleh reviewed in Sharm el-Sheikh on Wednesday preparations for the next Arab Summit to be held in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
In the meeting held on the sidelines of the 2nd Arab Economic, Development and Social Summit, Saleh and Talabani discussed bilateral cooperation relations and ways to enhance them as well as the issues on the agenda of Arab Economic Summit.
The meeting also touched on the issue of the Yemeni woman citizen, called Hasna'a, which could face a death sentence in Iraq. President Saleh asked President Talabani to release or commute the sentence against her and taking her humanitarian condition into account.
President Talabani promised to use his presidential power and not to sign the death verdict if issued.
President Saleh affirmed Yemen's support for Iraq’s security, stability and unity.
For his part, the Iraq President expressed keenness to widen the brotherly deep-rooted relations between Yemen and Iraq.
It is to be recalled that Hasna’a Ali Yahya Hussein is a Yemeni woman from the province of Amran is facing death sentence in Iraq. She was the victim of marriage of a man who entered Yemen under an assumed name and forged passport and it was later disclosed that he is Abu Ayoub al-Masri.
In her interview with the British newspaper The Guardian, after the killing of her husband in Iraq in April 2010, Hasna’a affirmed she did not know anything about his activity but after the killing of Abu Misaab al-Zarqawi in 2006 and for five years she remained moving with him from place to another
Hasna’a got married to Abu Ayoub al-Masri in 1998 when he was working as a teacher in a Yemeni village under the name of Yusuf Hadad Labib. He left for Iraq and then she joined him in Iraq in 2002, before occupation of Iraq, via Jordan. They lived in Karada and Amiriyah, Baghdad and after Iraq occupation they moved between Faluja, Abu Ghraib and Diyala and ended up in Tharthar area where Abu Ayoub was killed.
A number of activists have earlier staged a sit-in in front of the Iraqi embassy in Sana’a demanding the release of Hasna’a and her children and to return her to her country as she has no guilt.
