almotamar.net - The Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) in cooperation with the Arab Inter-parliamentary Union (AIPU) and the Arab Institute for Parliamentary Training and Legislative Studies )AIPTLS( have organized on Tuesday the Regional Conference for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) in London with the participation of Yemen.
The conference will last for the period 28-30 of January, 2014, and with the participation of nine countries from the Middle East and North Africa.
It aims to create a collaborative approach between members of parliament and civil society organizations over a set of feudal reforms in field of public policy, such as health, social sides, unemployment, and education as well as the important legislation in field of protecting the rights of women from domestic violence.
During the conference, the participated parliamentarians would get acquainted with papers prepared by the WFD and AIPTLS and discuss them, as well as enhancing their knowledge on how to use the evidence provided by civil society organizations, to agree on the national and regional strategies among the parliaments and civil society organizations.
It is worth mentioning that the Yemeni delegation has met during the conference's actions with a member at the House of Commons of the UK Parliament Henry Bellingham and the WFD head, and reviewed with them aspects of cooperation between the Yemeni Parliament and the WFD.
For his part, Bellingham expressed his pleasure for the participation of Yemen in the conference, looking forward to promoting the cooperation relations between Yemen and the WFD.
