Almoitamar,net - SANAA- In a meeting on Wednesday the Yemeni Journalists Syndicate (YJS) apologized from taking part with representatives in the Higher Committee on fighting corruption.
The YJS's Council has ascribed its apology to participation by saying the press is one of the factors exposing and fighting corruption and what is published by it amounts to release to the committee to be set up for dealing with issues of corruption.
A press release issued by the syndicate indicated that the press is the conscience of the society and most important monitoring instrument and in its capacity as a fourth estate it performs its monitoring role in disclosing corruption and in fighting it, an effort that contributes to the serving the goals for which the committee is formed. .
The YJS had earlier received a letter from chairman of the Shoura Council Abdulaziz Abdulghani asking it to nominate 3-5 candidates representing the YJS, qualified to meet the conditions stipulated in the law. . .
