Almotamar.net - Yemen's health minister Dr Abdulkarim Rasie revealed Saturday plans for establishment of a hospital specialised in treatment of cancer and another hospital for bone, brain and nerve surgery at an investment cost estimated at $72 million for the second project and $16 million for the first.
The minister added that the ministry intends t expand in establishing specialised departments for chronic diseases, especially cancer, in governorates provincial capitals in addition to rehabilitation and furbishing hospitals in governorates and districts in addition to building emergency centres supplied with ambulance cars in cooperation with the finance ministry, the charitable society for assisting cancer patients centres, the social fund for development, public works project, the donors and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
In an interview with almotamar.net the minister touched on ten essential issues representing a an executive group the ministry embarked on carrying out as part of the election platform of president Ali Abdullah Saleh with regard to health. He said they are mainly regarding wages strategy, reforming the health system, rehabilitation and expansion in health facilities, establishment departments for chronic diseases and rehabilitation of 5 hospitals in governorates and 3 hospitals in districts.
