Almotamar.net - The Minister for Local Administration Abdulqader Ali Hilal affirmed Thursday that the project of the national strategy for enhancement of decentralization represents significant step and qualitative transfer in the direction of expanding and developing the system of local authority. He said it will open opportunity for the local councils to undertake their role better in serving goals of local development.

In a statement to Al-Thawra newspaper the minister said the cabinet approval on forming a committee to prepare a draft of the strategy on consolidation of decentralization is an application of the electoral platform of President Ali Abdullah Saleh which stresses the importance of developing the system, of local authority and granting it more powers.

The minister added there will be many activities and workshops to enrich the document of the strategy to make it an object of popular unanimity before drawing it up in its final version.
