The meeting headed by the deputy minister of Higher Education Dr Mohammed Mohammed Mutahar discussed today a draft law for higher education and preparation for a workshop on forging university degrees and treating situations of students coming from non-Arab countries in addition to organisation of scientific councils in Yemeni government universities.

The meting also discussed the preliminary vision of distinguishing Yemeni government universities from each other with regard to specialties. Director of the draft plan of developing higher education, the Dutch expert, presented a programme on distinguishing universities included a vision aimed at distribution of scientific specializations among universities so that there will be national universities in specializations and others regional focusing on certain specializations serving their environment and local society.

Higher Education Deputy Minister affirmed that the project comes within the framework of the national strategy for higher education, pointing out that Yemeni distinguished universities should not be a copy of each other in order to serve diversity in needs of development and needs of the regions.
