Assistant secretary General of the GPC Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani confirmed that the GPC and parties of the JMP have reached an agreement to hold the Wednesday meeting in Sana'a and to be attended by the legal committee to seek its opinion the next steps with regard to its work and assortment of matters connected to the constitutional issues that in the light of them the directives by secretaries general can be determined. Al-Barakani added that the legal committee would finalise the special formulae in the light of which the legal formulae on those issues will be prepared.

The Assistant Secretary General of the GPC has further said the next meeting would also discuss priorities of the issues defined in the document of controls and guarantees that possibly give the priority in the dialogue to the secretaries general and the legal committees. He added among the prominent priorities that will be discussed is the law of elections provided that meetings of the political dialogue are to be held weekly, especially with regard to the legal committee, indicating there will be discussion on possibility of fixing dates for finishing each task separately.

Al-Barakani has also said that president |Ali Abdullah Saleh in his meeting the day before yesterday with representatives of the JMP and the GPC urged them on the necessity of giving the national issues the priority in their dialogue meetings in order to develop the political process. Al-Barakani added that the president called on all to work with a national spirit and away from arousing any problems or annoyances for the atmospheres of dialogue and to be willing to discuss all the national issues in transparency, calling the attention that any excitement would not serve the democratic process or the dialogue.

The Assistant Secretary General of the GPC also said the president's draft constitutional amendments is also put on the table of dialogue with all political parties and organisations, civil society organisations and various forces and specialists. He said the amendments came out of keenness on consolidating the democratic process in line with the president's election platform especially regarding the importance of achieving the real people's participation, peaceful transfer of power via presidential, parliamentary and local elections and the establishment of local rule, in addition to the woman right and enhancement of her position a well as her participation in the political life.

Al-Barakani added that the president of the republic confirmed that the agreement of the parties represented in the parliament on dialogue since its very first moment was not confined to a certain issue and the door will be kept open for dialogue on the issues stipulated in the document of controls and guarantees and any other issues connected to development of the political, economic, cultural and social process.
