almotamar.net - Health and Population Office in Lahj governorate on Monday inaugurated events of the World AIDS Day for 2007.

Coordinator of the National Programme for fighting AIDS in Lahj governorate Dr Jamal Amer said the AIDS has spread and around 250 million people in the world are invested with this disease and in Lahj governorate it has killed 25 cases of the disease out of 39 during the year of 2007.

Dr Amer called on all society segments for more commitment and intensification of enlightenment on dangers of this disease starting from the family, the mosque and civil society organisations, adding that avoiding he disease is represented by improving the preventative system, opening and furbishing health centres to offer free of charge medical examinations and encountering the idea of suppression and discrimination against AIDS patients.
