The report mentioned the political parties have to embody a high degree of credibility in their stand regarding the woman political and electoral participation and to encourage her in competition and crossing hindrances.

The report issued by the Yemeni Centre for Human Rights and inaugurated Sunday, demanded definition of clear legal texts on mechanisms of enabling the right to election information access and encouragement of civil society and political organisations to active participation in observation on various stages of the electoral process.

The report considered the proportional representation system as securing a real opportunity for increasing the woman representation in the elected councils more than the system of single constituency.

The report pointed out that the political performance of the General People's Congress (GPC) during the period of presidential and local elections of 2006 was distinguished before and during the elections. It said that can be monitored in three indicators: the GPC did not cancel dialogue with the opposition, reached with it at an agreement that demonstrated impotent aspects and readiness to offer many concessions, the second indicator is the GPC possession of means of influencing the opposition parties and the third was the investment of its relation with the Baath party to confuse the opposition alliance.

On the other hand the report described the Joint Meeting Parties performance as unable to stand firm in the use of the pressure maneuver to wring out concessions from the GPC.
