almotamar.net - A government committee began Thursday a field visit to the historical city of zabid in Yemen with the aim of studying and determining ways for tackling the random building and continued advance to the historical buildings in the city. The aim of the visit is also to carry out the general design of the city and the new architectural plan in the way guarantees the keeping of the city as part of the world heritage list especially after the UNESCO has threatened to drop it from the list.

Members of the ministerial committee affirmed in their meeting with the committee on preserving the city of Zabid the government concern and interest in the city as embodied by their being entrusted with the field visit and to see the most important problems the city is suffering from and reality of potentials through which the city would be preserved as a historical one.

The field visit comes pursuant to a cabinet decision on taking necessary measures for preserving the historical city of Zabid and keeping it on the list of the world heritage.
