Almotamar Net - The Yemeni-American Council for Trade and Investment concluded in Washington Friday its second meeting that began last Monday. The closing meetings were chaired for the Yemeni side by Dr Yahya Bin Yahya al-Mutawakil, the Minister of Industry and Trade and for the American side by representative for the US Trade Don Shonly. The closing meetings were chaired for the Yemeni side by Dr Yahya Bin Yahya al-Mutawakil, the Minister of Industry and Trade and for the American side by representative for the US Trade Don Shonly.

De al-Mutawakil reviewed Yemen's efforts for joining the World Trade Organisation (WTO) including the measures it follows for the development of trade structure and the reforms it implements for the improvement of the environment of trade and investment.

On his part Mr Shonly affirmed the political and technical support and willingness of the American government to offer technical assistance the Yemen needs for meeting commitments required by members of the WTO.

During the council's meetings there were discussions of bilateral trade issues and measures of joining the WTO, including negotiation on access to markets in areas of agricultural and industrial goods and services as well as the legal procedures followed for compatibility of trade legislations with the agreement of WTO in accordance to the legislative plan Yemen had presented.
