Almotamar.net - Prime Minister Ali Mohammed Mujawar announced that the year 2008 as a year of water for Amran governorate within a frame of a programme of activities and water projects to be implemented over the year.

In his speech in a ceremony of inaugurating the year of water in Amran organised Saturday by the ministry of water and environment the PM affirmed the importance of focusing of efforts on drinking water in urban and rural areas and improving sewage services. He pointed out that situation of water resources in general and sewage waters in particular requires expansion and deepening the concept of integrated administration of water resources that necessitates participation of all concerned parties, governmental and non-governmental.

On his part the minister of water and environment Abdulrahman Fadhl al-Eryany said holding such activities that care about waters reflects the degree of the state interest and keenness on drawing up policies guaranteeing preservation of water reservoirs and thinking of finding new water tributaries to increase levels of waters.

Meanwhile the prime minister on Saturday opened and laid foundation stones of a number of services and development projects in Amran governorate at a total cost of one billion and 700 million Yemeni riyals.
