Almotamar Net - The candidate of the General Peoples Congress (GPC) for the post of governor of Al-Dhalie governorate Ali Qassem Talib won in the elections held Sunday in which the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) in the governorate have participated in the elections. The chairman of the supervising committee in Dhalie Ali Saleh Abdullah affirmed to almotamar.net that the GPC candidate gained 97 votes out of 107 members that took part in the election today, among them 28 members from the JMP. The committee chairman, in a statement to almotamar.net after vote-counting, also praised the patriotic spirit of the members of local councils in the governorate with all their political affiliation for their participation in this important national event that Yemen is witnessing for the first time.
JMP members in most governorates of Yemen have taken part in governor elections despite decisions of their parties to boycott them. President Ali Abdullah Saleh considered that participation as an indication of those participants' national awareness.
