Almotamar.net - Head of the Political Office of the General People's Congress (GPC) Abdullah Ahmed Ghanim affirmed Tuesday the importance of appointing secretary general of the local council after the governor has become elected. He pointed out those allegations of the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) as backing out from democracy as a failing attempt for deforming any democratic gain achieved in Yemen.
Mr Ghanim said wrong and misleading readings under the leadership of President Ali Abdullah Saleh, the leader of the GPC. He added that the amendments leading to appointment of local councils secretaries general as announced by the President some days ago is necessary under the local rule system.
Mr Ghanim clarified, "When the governor was being appointed it was necessarily that the secretary general is elected and now the governor is elected so it is necessary that the secretary general should be appointed."
He stressed the necessity of preserving firmness and continuation of the administration headed by the secretary general in each governorate.
