Almotamar.net - The Executive Secretary of Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Bader Omar Al Dafa has said Thursday the Commission would work for helping the Yemeni government ministries and specialised institutions to bring closer and harmonize laws and legislations as well as the investment circumstances and development of systems of institutions with what the situations are in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States in preparation for Yemen accession to the GCC by the year 2015.
In a press statement on the sidelines of the 25th ESCWA ministerial session being held in Sana'a Al Dafa pointed out the ESCWA contribution, in cooperation with Arab and non-Arab Funds, various organisations of the United Nations, to accelerate implementation of the programmes that are applied on the ground in Yemen regarding environment, the woman management and in the area of waters.
He said the ESCWA is preparing a study on how to rationalize the use of waters and increase the water reservoir in Yemen and the rest of Arab countries that suffer from shortage in water reservoir.
According to Al Dafa the importance of the ESCWA 25th session held in Sana'a comes from its going to come out with recommendations to the conference of funding development scheduled in Qatar in the late of this year.
He stressed the importance of mustering intensive efforts by the Arab donor countries, European countries and Arab Funds to support the Yemeni government to continue achieving those goals by the year 2015 I the manner supporting the Yemeni government plans for achieving the millennium development goals.
Al Dafa has drawn the attention that the convening of the 25th ministerial committee of ESCWA in Sana'a is characterized by participation of about 140 representatives for organisations and funds and UN institutions, considering the large attendance as an indicator of success for this session.
