Almotamar.net - Participants in the 1st Forum on Quality of Tourism & Transport Services in Yemen, held in Sana'a Saturday attributed weakness of the quality of tourist services and transport in Yemen to weakness in qualification of specialised cadres able to deal with the tourist and weakness of capabilities of quality monitoring establishments and administrations. The forum was held as part of activities of Sana'a Summer Tourist Festival, organised by the Global for Quality Systems in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism.

The participants clarified the difference between specifications and criteria of classification of quality with those of the neighbouring countries and the multiplicity of monitoring and legislative bodies of tourist facilities as causes of the low standard tourist services.

Working papers presented at the meeting recommended the Ministry of Tourism to modernize the system of classifying hotels and to develop it to keep pace with international criteria. The papers also demanded preparation of criteria of classification and qualification of tourist facilities and establishment of criteria on monitoring quality of tourist installations. The participants also held the Ministry of Tourism responsible for being certain that the different tourist installations implement criteria of quality of tourist services.

The recommendations stressed the necessity of adoption of a national programme under supervision of the Minister of Tourism with the aim of making tourism in competitive position in local, regional and international markets .the participants also agreed to hold a national conference at the end of this year on quality of tourism and transport.
