Almotamar Net - The General Peoples Congress (GPC) has on Sunday mourned the passing away of the patriotic struggler  Hussein al-Maqdami , 82, one of the founders of the GPC , who has spent most of his life in service of the homeland and issues of the people.

Almotamar.net - The General People's Congress (GPC) has on Sunday mourned the passing away of the patriotic struggler Hussein al-Maqdami , 82, one of the founders of the GPC , who has spent most of his life in service of the homeland and issues of the people.

A statement of the GPC said the deceased played prominent roles in the national struggle movement during his life that was full of giving, through his contribution to enlightening the society and mustering for the eruption of September Revolution as well as his participation with vanguards of the revolution in the attempted assassination of Imam Ahmed Hamidudin in Hudeida Hospital which the deceased was its manager. In the wake of that the deceased al-Maqdami was imprisoned in Hudeida, Taiz and Hajah and was not set free until after the outbreak of the 26 September Revolution in 1962.

The GPC statement added that the deceased remained one of the active leaders who enriched the experiment of the GPC and contributed to develop and modernize mechanism of its work and leadership of its activities since the constituent conference until the 7th conference.
