Almotamar.net - Meetings of the 2nd Regional Course on building capacities of human rights and media activists in the Gulf States and Yemen started in Bahrain Sunday. The course is aimed at creation of awareness in principles of democracy and human rights by targeting media men in the Gulf States and Yemen and to train them on principles of human rights.

At the opening of the course, organised by Human Rights Information and Training Centre HRITC) in cooperation with al-Mustaqbal Foundation and the Bahraini Society for Human Rights for 35 trainees from Bahrain and Yemen, director of the Hritc Abdulqawi Salem affirmed the course comes as part of a 2-yar programme with the aim of enhancing awareness in human rights and democracy principles and conso9lidation of the base of civil society and media institutions in those e countries. It also aims to build a network for the regional work among activists of human rights and enhance the freedom of the media in publishing the principles of human rights and democracy.

Trainees in the 5-day course would receive trainings on the Humanitarian International Law, skills of observation and documentation, the freedom of opinion and expression, International Criminal Court, United Nations organisations and concepts and conventions as well as experiences as a basic step for the enhancement of the culture of democratic dialogue.
