Almotamar.net - Yemen Foreign Minister Dr Abu Bakr al-Qirbi affirmed that the countries of the region, including Yemen, have taken big steps in the field of reforms, freedom and people's participation in the rule since the establishment of the Future Forum. He pointed out the importance of these efforts in serving political, economic and social development and he plans for fighting terror and protection of the national security.
At the launching of the meetings of the ministerial session of the Future Forum n its 5th session and attended by 38 countries in the Emirates capital Abu Dhabi Sunday morning, al-Qirbi said that countries in the region, among them Yemen have not received enough support for their ambitious development programmes or their efforts for combating terror or the great burdens they bear as a result of the situations in the Horn of Africa.
Minister al-Qirbi stressed that responsibility of the Forum lies on the region's countries in the first place and they have to shoulder the responsibility its management and activation in the way achieving their ambitions in democratic reform and freedoms, affirming that forcing any reform not accepted by the region's countries and peoples would be doomed to failure.
Al-Qirbi also called for partnership between the Group-8 and the partner countries with the region so that to guarantee progress of the Forum in its right direction and to offer real support to reforms and modernization especially to the countries that began serious steps for achieving that but do not possess the material capabilities to continue it because without the support they will remain in the circle of words without moving to the stage of action.
He said while "We are working together to empower civil society establishments to lay their role as partner of the governments in development and reform we must not forget the importance of work in the same average in order to enhance the relationship of partnership between those establishments and governments and to avoid whatever that may hamper building of confidence between the civil society and institutions and governments of the region."
Al-Qirbi stressed the necessity that the work of the civil society organisations be in compatibility with the laws operative in their countries and should not be dealt with as mans of pressure on governments.
The minister said that since the beginning of the establishment of the Future Forum there was the emphasis on the importance of its institutions and providing means of following up its work and developing mechanisms for taking decisions in it in addition to guaranteeing the taking of participation of the member states in the management of its work in a democratic manner.
