almotamar.net - The parliament approved Saturday postponement of summoning the government to answer queries of MPs to next Sunday and Monday because of its preoccupation in performing its duties concerning the catastrophe that hit the governorates of Hadramout, and Mahara caused by the heavy rains in the past two days. The sources affirmed demand of the parliament for a report to be presented next Wednesday on the damage and action taken about it by the government.

The disaster received sympathy if the MPs who started their meeting with reciting Al-Fatiha Chapter of the Qur�an on the spirits of the dead in the catastrophe. The MPs also stressed the necessity of allocating funds for compensation to the affected citizens in the additional appropriation the government asked to be opened today.

The MP Mohammed al-Shaef demanded the summoning of the officials at the Yemeni meteorology authority to question them or relieving them from their jobs for their dereliction in performing their duty in warning the citizens in the areas that were possible to be exposed to danger before the fall of rains.

Al-Shaef also called on businessmen to donate for the affected people and to halt discussion of the additional appropriation unless it contains sums allocated to Hadramout and Al-Mahara and the MP Ahmed al-Souyel affirmed that there must be transparency in distributing relief materials.
