almotamar.net - Observers have wondered about the stance of Sheikh Abdulmajid al-Zandani, member of the Higher Committee of Islah Party, ‘Muslim Brotherhood in Yemen’, who refused participation of the woman in the so9lidarity festival with the Palestinian people organized Sunday in the Yemeni capital Sana’a.


Sheikh al-Zandani got very angry and announced his withdrawal from the festival in protest to the address delivered at the festival by Chairwoman of Yemen Women Union Ms Ramzia al-Eryany on behalf of Yemen’s women. Mediators succeeded with difficulty to convince him to stay in the f3estival organized by the General People’s Congress and the People’s Organisation in Yemen for the Support of Palestine.

Participants in the festival considered the stance of al-Zandani as a new proof on the Islah party attitude towards the woman and continuation of its refusal of her participation in the political life as a candidate, indicating that confirms the Islah intention to not nominate the woman in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Yemen and that it only intends to use her as an electoral card.
