almotamar.net - Minister for Human Rights Dr Huda al-Ban said Saturday the discussion of the report on the periodic revision of on reality of human rights in Yemen with civil society organisations and government institutions comes as part of the interactive and constructive dialogue aimed to assess content of the report and highlight any present flaws in order to reform it and produce it in the objective form.
In her address to the opening of the workshop on discussion and review of Yemen�s periodic and comprehensive report the ministry of human rights present to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva , she said propagators of the report have taken into consideration the international criteria defined by the UN Human Rights Council .
She affirmed that Yemen is one of the countries that are obliged by applying those criteria the nest prominent of which are the commitment to principles of global character and objectivity, non-selectivity and dependence on principles of cooperation and constructive dialogue between the government and civil society organisations.
Minister al-Ban also said the ministry for hanuman rights realizes well that Yemen cannot deal with the new stage but according to its rules and conditions, the foremost of these rules and conditions are the science, knowledge, democracy and human rights.
For his part the minister for foreign affairs Dr Abu Bakr al-Qirbi confirmed in his address to the workshop that the responsibility of enhancing and defence of human rights is not the responsibility of the government alone but rather the responsibility of all as citizens in the firs place.
He called on the participants to take some matters into consideration when discussing the draft, which he tackled at the beginning of his talk on human rights at the national and international levels of being taken as political and partisan issues. He has also called for dealing with human rights in their human dimension away from partisan wrangles and politicization, considering the draft report as an account statement on human rights in Yemen.
