Almotamar.net - Meetings of the 21st round of the Arab summit has started in Doha, Qatar Monday with participation of Arab countries kings, presidents and emirs , among them President Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen.
At the opening session of the summit the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad clarified in his speech to the summit that the period between the summits of Damascus and that of Doha was full of qualitative events, whether at the level of the region or the world and if the description of danger and negativity stamped those events it was also not void of positives that would give some hope for a change towards the better.
The Syrian president said despite of diversity of those events experienced in the region but what was common for them was the state of international inability in tackling their causes and their ramifications that went out of control. Al-Assad added that the process of all-out changes taking place in the world at present is similar to a great extent to the process of re-shaping the world in the mid of the last century when we had begged others for rights, that were in our hands, to return them to us. The Syrian president stressed on realization of understanding and stabilization of solidarity that was the motto of Damascus summit.
Al-Assad said it is natural that reconciliation is to be the most topic in this stage as it is the ground on which success and failure of any decision taken in any field is built. In absence of solidarity or its weakness any agreement or decision will remain a mere unrealizable illusion.
On the reality of orientations of the recently elected Israeli government which is against peace the Syrian president said the Israeli government expresses those who elected it and this is a clear-cut message announcing that peace for the Israelis is just a tactical option aimed to cover their far goals based on not returning any rights they had usurped. However, this does not require us to replace the strategy of our choice of peace but tactics and mechanisms should change not with the change of governments in Israel but with firmness of the real purposes and the hostile tendency o the Israelis towards us and toward the peace process. All the Israelis compete for the Arabs lands, blood and souls and all of them reflect the reality that the Israeli society is not concerned about peace. And peace would not be achieved with an enemy that does not believe in peace without it is imposed on it by resistance, the desire for peace is our motive in supporting the resistance. President al-Assad said.
On the decision of the International Criminal court against the Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir the Syrian President considered the decision as a one stage of the stages of dividing the Sudan in order to weaken it and then to control its riches. He said what Sudan is exposed to is that of what Palestine was exposed to at the beginning of the last century.
