By:almotamar.net - SANA'A- The General People's Congress (GPC)'s General Committee held Saturday a meeting chaired by President Ali Abdullah Saleh to discuss several issues related to the preparations of the GPC's candidates to run for the September elections.

The Committee reviewed a list including GPC candidates for local council elections at the level of governorates and districts.

The Committee also discussed topics related to the GPC election campaign, and how it progresses at the political, media, public and organizational level, taking proper decisions in this respect.

The Committee congratulated the GPC members and supporters as well as all Yemeni people on the advent of the GPC 24th anniversary, affirming it is a great occasion worth celebration as it implies meanings and signs associated with it and rife with gigantic achievements and great transitions conducted by the GPC under the leadership of President Ali Abdullah Saleh.

The Committee, moreover, expressed its pride on the GPC's achievements over the 24 past years, at the level of politics, economy, development, culture, security, etc, during which the GPC has proved that Yemeni people have been leading a life of ease and comfort due to the pioneer national system that emanated from among them and inspired their hopes and ambitions.

With its great, democratic, rational, moderate method and with a vigilant, wise vision on the part of its leadership, the GPC could direct the country skillfully and shunned all the challenges, difficulties and dangers which the country had faced.
It could also embody the principles of freedom, democracy, unity, development, security, stability, progress, building intimate, fruitful relations with all friends and brothers, as a result of which Yemen could get a notable place at the international, Islamic, Arabic, and regional level, performing its vital role to serve the nation's issues, combat terrorism, and serve peace, security and stability internationally and regionally.

The Committee made it clear all of that made the people put their confidence in the GPC as they believe that only the GPC, which has been loyal to principles and patriotism, has been able to fulfill the national aspirations and people's ambitions through taking efficiently the responsibility of protecting the country, its sovereignty, independency, stability, peace, unity, and democratic approach since the very beginning of establishing the GPC.

The Committee noted that the GPC, as usual, shall continue to be loyal to the Yemeni people, clinging to its principles and everything that achieves credit and progress for the country.

Additionally, the Committee called on all political forces and people to positively interact with the September presidential and local elections, which the GPC is keen to hold in a fair, transparent, peaceful environment
