Almotamar.net - Yemen foreign minister Dr Abu Bakr al-Qirbi said Wednesday the Yemeni unity is the fate of Yemen and dream of its sons that has been realized with struggle of generations and sacrifices of the heroes, they will protect it with an absolute belief in it and will stand up to whoever conspires on the huge historic accomplishment.
The foreign minister affirmed that the government has tackled and is still tackling the issues the legitimate issues and demands within the frame of the constitution and the law out of the political leadership in dialogue and understanding and cooperation and the work together however different the opinions and affiliations were and all that for protection of the unity and achievement of justice, security and development.
In a seminar organised by Saba Centre for Strategic Studies the minister reviewed orientations of the foreign policy of Yemen since the establishment of the unity that pursued the elimination of causes of tension in its relations with its regional surrounding.
He said Yemen strengthened its role as a factor of stability in the region by demarcating its borders with neighbouring countries and consolidating its sea borders with Eritrea. That has allowed the government to concentrate on development programmes and alleviation of the area of poverty, improvement of the level of services for the citizens and heading for the diplomacy of development.
The minister also talked about the changes the world has and many areas witnessed, indicating that the instable situation in the Horn of Africa was reflected on Yemen in carious aspects, such as economic, social and security. The most prominent of which is the wave of migration of Somali refugees to Yemen and the phenomena of piracy that has become a danger threatening international navigation and interests of different world countries .
The foreign minister also said the Yemeni foreign policy succeeded in dealing with phenomena such as the international terror, piracy, and smuggling of humans and drugs by increasing the security coordination between it and many countries, both regionally and internationally.
The minister added that his ministry carried out a number of reforms and revisions that coped with internal, regional and international changes. Among those reforms are the reconsideration of the map of the diplomatic representation and following high criteria in selecting the diplomatic cadre and development of the diplomatic institute for qualification of the diplomatic cadre.
