Almotamar.net, Saba - British diplomat denied on Thursday the intention of UK and US to interfere or to have any military existence in Yemen. In a press conference, British ambassador to Yemen Tim Torlot said that "Yemenis are smart and realize the threats of al-Qaeda and the damages of its terrorist operations on the country".

Torlot affirmed that splitting Yemen into two parts will drive the country into a serious disaster and will affect the entire region.

He added, "Talking about separating Yemen is merely as talking about disaster, adding a problem of existing two Yemeni parts with two separated governments besides the list of big challenges facing Yemen would make the situation much worse".

He underlined his country's supportive position for Yemen's security and stability.

United Kingdom has ambition to establish a developed and distinctive relationship with the unified Yemen, under which the British and Yemeni relations could be run successfully, the British diplomat said.

Torlot talked about the current preparations for holding an international conference on Yemen and is to be held in the January 27th under the directions of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

London conference will be a strategic one where Yemen will present its papers on the main challenges facing Yemen in areas of economy, policy, development and security to be discussed by the participants.

The ambassador pointed out that the two foreign Ministers, the British and Yemeni, will carry out a press conference in the conclusion of the conference to reveal its results.

The British diplomat said that 90 percent of the British support concentrated on economic and developmental areas and the last 10 percent is for the military cooperation.

Torlot made reference to the several challenges Yemen faces, particularly in areas of corruption, economy, agriculture and population growth.
