Almotamar.net - Assistant Secretary General of the General People’s Congress (GPC) for Information Sector Dr Ahmed Ubeid Bin Daghr on Saturday held a meeting I Sana’a with the Director of National Democratic Institute (NDI) in Yemen during which they discussed areas of cooperation between the GPC and the NDI as well as mechanisms for development and enhancement of those reactions in the manner serving the democratic process in Yemen. They also discussed the NDU support the development of the democratic process in Yemen.

Dr Bin Daghr stressed the significance of dialogue as the ideal means in dealing with different issues in the national arena and emphasized keenness of the political leadership represented by President Ali Abdullah Saleh on continuation of meetings between the GPC and other political parties represented in the parliament so that the dialogue would achieve it goal.

Bin Daghr confirmed the GPC has no conditions for dialogue but it would absolutely not hold dialogue with advocates of secession. He said, “The unity is our common ceiling and any one wants to have dialogue with us should announce his commitment to the homeland unity and submission to its supreme interest. “

The senior GPC official renewed his party’s commitment to February agreement signed by the parties represented in the parliament and to going ahead with the constitutional amendments and the electoral reforms aimed to consolidate and develop the democratic pursuit in Yemen in the way contributing to increase the popular participation in decision-making. He has also expressed the GPC’s keenness on participation of all Yemeni political forces in the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled in April next year.

For her part the NDI Director Heather Thiran pointed out that the dialogue is the best way for solving any differences in viewpoints among the political forces, confirming the NDI’s keenness on supporting and backing the democratic process in Yemen.
