Almotamar.net - Meetings of Yemen Friends group are to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) capital Abu Dhabi on Monday. Participants in the meting are representatives of 20 courtiers in addition to Yemen which participates with a delegation led by Deputy Minister for Planning and International Cooperation Hisham Sharaf Abdullah.

It is expected that the meetings are to begin with a few number of countries composed of Britain, The United States of America and the UAE, in addition to Yemen. This will be followed by the major meeting where all representatives of the 20 countries, in addition to Yemen re to participate.

Over two days meetings discussions are to focus on issues relating to the two premises of development and the good governance in Yemen as they represent a practical translation of the latest London meeting for supporting Yemen.

Yemen�s Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul Karim al-Arhabi has earlier stated that the meting is an opportunity for discussing and reviewing the challenges facing Yemen and ways of activating role of the donors to help Yemen confront those challenges. The Minister praised initiative of the UAE in hosting meetings of the two groups of development and the good governance.

This is the first meeting for consultation and coordination on mechanism of the group work. The meeting would focus on determining areas of priority work for the Yemeni government and assisting in its implementation by the group. The team would present a report to the ministerial meeting scheduled to be held next may.

It is to be pointed out that the 20 countries taking part in the meting are Germany, United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Spain, Holland, Turkey, Russia, France and Italy, in addition to Yemen and representatives for the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the European Union, the United Nations Abu Dhabi fund for Development and Khalifa Bin Zaid Foundation for Charity Works.
